What to do with your old mattress in Switzerland
A mattress does not go in the rubbish bag. There are three routes: take-back by the seller of your new mattress, your municipality’s collection or recycling centre, or a private service. Here are the conditions we were able to verify.

Take-back by the seller
IKEA Switzerland takes back an old mattress for CHF 50 with a standard delivery; in store, take-back costs CHF 10 to 40 depending on the work. Without an associated delivery, CHF 99.95 in transport fees is added. At Bico, delivery with assembly and disposal of the old mattress costs CHF 350 (CHF 150 from CHF 2,500 spent). Emma’s online help, as consulted, does not mention any old-mattress take-back.
Through your municipality: the Zurich example
In Zurich, a mattress is bulky waste («Sperrgut»): drop it at the Recyclinghof or mobile Recyclinghof, or have it collected from home by Entsorgung + Recycling Zürich for a fee. For collection, no item may exceed 2.5 m or 40 kg, and ERZ recommends booking 3 working days ahead. Rules and fees vary by municipality: check with yours.
The habit to adopt before buying
If you need to get rid of the old mattress, compare this line too: on every product page, «Old-mattress take-back» shows what the seller offers, or «To be confirmed» if we did not find it.
